In March 2018, the Irish man Ibrahim Halawa who spent more than 4 years in prison in Egypt, came to the European Parliament in Strasbourg to talk about his experiences behind bars. He also wanted to thank the MEPs for voting for a resolution in 2015 calling for his release. During his visit to the European Parliament I met Ibrahim and the Sinn Fein MEP Lynn Boylan who had played an active role in getting the 2015 resolution through the Parliament.
