The nominated president of the European Commission made big promises this morning on tackling climate change.

During her address to the European Parliament in Strasbourg, Ursula von der Leyen vowed to make Europe the first climate-neutral continent in the world by 2050. And the German Defence Minister said the EU must strive to reduce its CO2 emissions by 50% to 55% by 2030.
